When clients receive fully assembled, configured, and deployment-ready technology solutions, they rarely see the work happening behind the scenes. For Antonio Schiano, Systems Engineering's Shop Lead & Engineering professional, that's where the real work begins.
Antonio has been with SE for 12 years, bringing a passion for technology and problem-solving to every role he's held. After studying Industrial Technology with a focus in telecommunications at the University of Southern Maine, he built experience in help desk and data specialist positions before joining SE as a Network Administrator. Over time, his role evolved into the unique position he holds today, serving as a critical link between engineering, operations, and client delivery.
What keeps the role exciting for Antonio is that no two days are the same.
His day revolves around a steady flow of tickets and requests from clients, engineers, and internal teams. Some days focus on repairs and troubleshooting, while others involve configuring equipment, supporting deployments, or evaluating complex technical challenges. His favorite part of the job is the investigative work.
"I enjoy assessments, evaluations, and root cause analysis," Antonio said. "I like digging into problems, figuring out what's causing the issue, and building a solution."
The attention to detail is especially important in the shop. While clients often receive equipment that is ready to deploy, what they don't see is the extensive process behind it. Components frequently arrive separately and must be assembled, configured, tested, and validated before they ever leave SE's doors.
"There are a lot of steps involved," Antonio explained. "Our goal is to make sure everything is ready to go and delivered as quickly and accurately as possible."
For Antonio, consistency is one of the shop's most important contributions to client success. Regardless of the customer, the standard remains the same: quality work, reliable solutions, and attention to details.
That customer-focused mindset is also what has made Systems Engineering a place where he's built a successful career. Over the years, he's watched the company evolve, but one thing has remained constant: the people.
"People genuinely make you feel like you're part of the team," he said. "You're valued, you're appreciated, and everyone is focused on taking care of our customers."
The relationships he's built across the organization have been just as meaningful as the technical work. He takes pride in being someone his teammates can count on.
"A lot of people trust me here, and they know I love work," Antonio said. "I enjoy taking on more responsibility, and people know they can trust me to get the work done."
When asked about his proudest accomplishment, Antonio points to the transformation of the shop itself. Helping modernize operations and strengthening the shop's connection to the broader organization has been one of the most rewarding parts of his journey at SE.
When reflecting on his journey, he credits curiosity, initiative, and a genuine desire to understand how things work – technical skills can be learned. "Be interested and stay engaged," Antonio said.
Outside of work, Antonio stays busy renovating his home, playing video games, and riding motorcycles. Whether at work or in his personal life, he enjoys challenges that allow him to learn, build, and solve problems.
