You may have recently received an email from Microsoft announcing the upcoming discontinuation of the Microsoft 365 Business Premium and Office 365 E1 “Grant” licensing, which is provided directly by Microsoft at no cost. Existing Microsoft 365 Business Premium and Office 365 grant recipients can continue service through their next renewal on or after July 1, 2025.
Microsoft's formal announcement of this change can be found here.
Upon renewal, eligible nonprofits will have several options to maintain access to secure, modern collaboration tools including:
- Up to 300 granted licenses of Microsoft 365 Business Basic.
- Discounts of up to 75% on many commercial Microsoft 365 offers to nonprofits, including Microsoft 365 Business Premium and Office 365 E1.
If your nonprofit organization is currently using granted Business Premium or E1 licenses, you will need to plan for a transition at your next renewal. Note that where granted licenses are provided directly by Microsoft, Systems Engineering has no direct visibility as to their status or whether you have any.
Please contact your account manager to review your existing licensing and develop the best transition plan for your organization.
