What is Webex Teams?

Cisco's Webex Teams, utilized by businesses around the world, is a cloud-based, or hosted, collaboration platform that’s modeled around teamwork in the modern working environment. Built on the Webex platform, it can act as a phone system, a video conferencing system, a file share, and a whiteboard environment. Persistent, or ongoing, chat can be utilized by people within an organization as well as with partners and clients who work externally. Essentially, it’s a communication platform that will change how your organization collaborates, seamlessly and for the better.

When organizations decide to move data to the cloud, there are several benefits including cost efficiency and time savings. Consistent and frequent updates to make usability easier and friendlier is yet another benefit. For those organizations that have adopted Microsoft Office 365, (or better yet Microsoft 365, a.k.a. 'Modern Desktop') for example, you might have noticed that once a login occurs, the default page seen now is Office.com. As such, Microsoft announced the following explanation earlier this week:

As technology changes dramatically, the headlines continue to focus on the same themes: Security, Cloud, and Digital Transformation. In this blog article, I will review important "to do's" within each category and offer ways you and your organization can achieve these important IT goals. 

When it comes to good security practices, compliance and documented policies require a top-to-bottom effort from management, operations, human resources, and the IT team. After all, the right security practices and solutions can be created and when a business can prove that solid policies and practices are in place, it provides peace of mind to its clients, partners, and auditors.

So, let's start from the beginning.

At Systems Engineering team, we are very conscious about practicing good IT security measures. As such, it's important to remember that protecting confidential data spans from desktops, to the cloud, to mobile devices, and more. 

This year, at the Microsoft Ignite Conference, the most highly attended workshops and sessions were overwhelmingly related to Modern Desktop and Microsoft Intune. To put this in perspective, I should mention that this event has approximately 30,000 attendees from all around the world. Every Modern Desktop or Intune-related session was at or near capacity, and the sessions were held in very large venues, as you can see in the photo below.
